Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the insulation around a radial lead and simplify insulating structure by providing a sealing mechanism, which seals the space formed between first and second radial holes and the radial lead against the outside of a rotor shaft.
SOLUTION: A second radial hole 21a, connected to a first radial hole 8c, is formed in a protective tube 21 inserted into a conductor housing portion 8a. An axial conductor 10 is inserted into the protective tube 21 and is further electrically connected with a superconducting field winding 3. A radial insulator 11 is interposed between the inner circumferential surface of the protective tube 21 and the outer circumferential surface of the axial conductor 10, and the tip of a radial lead 12 is screwed onto the outer circumferential surface of the axial conductor 10 through the first and second radial holes 8c and 21a to electrically connect them with each other. A sealing mechanism 13 is placed between a rotor shaft 8 and the radial lead 12. Thus the space 14 formed between the first and second radial holds 8c and 21a and the radial lead 12 is sealed from the outside of the rotor shaft 8, and the interior of the space 14 is evacuated.
