Title:
CURRENT LIMITING ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05235419
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a current limiting element in which melting of a metal film can be prevented before a superconducting film is melted even in a circuit having a high voltage by allowing the film to be scarcely melted. CONSTITUTION:When the length, thickness and width of a metal film 4 are L, Th and W, resistivity of the film at the time of burn-out is rhom, radiating energy per unit time of a current limiting element at the time of burn-out of the film is Qm and generating heat energy per unit time at the time of burn-out of a superconducting film 2 is Qscm, it is so constructed that a value of {rhomL (Qm-Qscm)/TH W}<1/2> is higher than a melting limit voltage of the superconducting film and a melting temperature of the metal film is higher than a temperature at the time of burn-out of the metal film.
