PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate the work for setting cloth piece, and holding the cloth piece except the final pleat setting by providing a tensile force urging device for urging the backward tensile force to the curtain cloth piece with the pleated part formed by a pleat forming and feeding device pressed by a cloth presser of a sewing machine.
SOLUTION: A pleat forming and feeding device 2 disposed adjacently to a sewing machine 1 includes a front holding means 12 for clamping both sides of a required length of curtain cloth piece C to be pleated on the front side to be held, a pleating means 13 for forming desired pleats in the required length of the curtain cloth piece C to be pleated held by the means 12, and a pleat part feeding means 14 for inserting the formed pleat part in a seam part of a sewing machine 1. A tensile force urging device 4 is disposed on the right side of the thus constructed part forming and feeding device 2 adjacently thereto. The tensile force urging device 4 has a tensile force urging roller 21 and a cloth piece pressing roller 22 above the roller 21, thereby applying the backward tensile force to the curtain cloth piece with the pleated part pressed by the cloth presser.
