PURPOSE: To provide a cut-pile carpet excellent in its soft touch and a feeling of warmth and enhanced at comfortableness to set feet thereon and durability by providing the surface layer portion of carpet pile with the properties of staple fiber, and providing the root portion of the pile with the properties of synthetic fiber multifilament thread subjected to crimping.

CONSTITUTION: In a cut-pile carpet, synthetic fiber multifilament thread 2 subjected to crimping and having a total fineness of more than 450 Denier and boiling water shrinkage percentage 15-35% is disposed at the core portion thereof and composite thread comprising staple fibers 1 twisted as a sheath portion around the core portion is used as cut-pile thread, and the synthetic fiber multifilament thread forming the core portion of the cut-pile thread and subjected to criming is made to shrink by shrinkage process and the end portion of the cut-pile thread is made by staple fiber.
