To provide a cutting device capable of pulling out and cutting a roll-shaped medium stored in a portable container by a single hand.
In the cutting device including a rotating member and a base frame, the rotating member is provided with a rotation center, cutting teeth arranged at an opposite end thereof, a pressing member arranged at the lower side of the cutting teeth, and a guide between the rotation center and the cutting teeth. A movable member is rotatably attached to the base frame; and a medium pulled out from the roll-shaped medium is made to pass through between the base frame and the pressing member, then stretched to the guide and to the cutting teeth in the order, pulled upward at a position corresponding to the guide when pulling out the medium, and pulled downward to be cut at a portion corresponding to the cutting teeth when cutting the medium. Thereby, the medium can be pulled out by a smaller force when pulling out the medium and can be easily cut by a larger braking force when cutting the medium, thus allowing these operations to be performed by the single hand while allowing the cutting device to be applied to a portable container.
