Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and sufficiently prevent cullets from producing and scattering and reduce the surface from flawing by feeding a glass cutting oil containing a high molecular compound to the surface of a glass, forming a cutting line on the surface and then breaking and dividing the glass along the cutting line. SOLUTION: A glass is not especially limited, but is a flat glass, a glass for lamps and electron tubes or a glass for tubes of various compositions and those having the surfaces coated with an inorganic or an organic substance. The boiling point of the glass cutting oil is preferably 120-400 deg.C in a state without containing a high molecular compound. White kerosene is preferred as the cutting oil. The molecular weight of the high molecular compound is preferably >=300 and the softening point thereof is preferably >=70 deg.C. A coumarone-indene resin is preferred as the high molecular compound. The amount thereof added is 0.1-5.0 wt.% based on the cutting oil. The cutting oil has about 0.01 P viscosity, however, the viscosity of the cutting oil containing the high molecular compound is preferably >=0.1 and <=10 P. The coating thickness is preferably 0.1-0.5 mm.
