Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a cutting position positioning method for an insulator, which can cut off the insulator based on the boarder line of each sand coating section with no manual operation required.
CONSTITUTION: An insulator 1 equipped with sand coating sections 2 and 3 at its both sides is supported by cylinders 4 and 5 in such a way as to be freely adjusted in position axially with respect to cutting whetstone 6 and 6. Light beam is applied to both the end sections of the insulator 1 from a slender light source, ad the boarder line of each sand coating section 2 and 3 is detected by receiving reflected light by CCD cameras 7 and 8, so that the position of the insulator 1 with respect to the cutting whetstone 6 and 6 can thereby be automatically set.
