PURPOSE: To subsequently cut and record high frequency signals such as video signals as mechanical undulations by supporting a cutting stylus to the free end of a cantilever by way of an electro-mechanical transducer.
CONSTITUTION: An elastic plate material 10 which becomes a cantilever is fixed at its one end to a fixing part 11 and has a cutting stylus 13 made of diamond at its free end 12. The electric signals being supplied from conductors 19 and 20 are converted to mechanical vibrations by a piezoelectric ceramic 15, by which the cutting stylus 13 is vibrated in the direction of T. A recording medium 14 moves in the direction shown by R and the cutting stylus 13 forms grooves while drawing patterns 21 on the surface of the recording medium 14. At this time, cut chips 22 are produced in the front face of the cutting stylus 13.
