Abstract:
To provide a cutting tool having a long cutting life and a manufacturing method thereof.
This cutting tool is constructed by jetting soft particles to the surface of a metal sintered body formed of cemented carbide material to perform surface cleaning and surface shape machining, and then forming a hard protective coat layer using a dry coating method. Preferably the hard protective coat layer is a coating layer mainly composed of a metallic carbide, a metallic nitride, a metallic oxide or compound thereof. For example, the cutting tool may be used as a screw cutting chaser.
