To provide a cutting tool capable of suppressing adverse effects on finished surface and dimensional accuracy, while obtaining a deposition reducing effect by vibration in end face machining of a material to be cut easy, to generate deposition on the tool in particular.
This cutting tool is provided with a cutting edge portion 2 and a cutting tool main body portion 1. The cutting tool main body portion 1 has first and second cutting tool constitution portions 9 and 10. The first cutting tool constitution portion 9 includes an upper surface side handle portion 9b. The second cutting tool constitution part 10 includes a bottom surface side handle portion 10b. A planar member 5 is arranged between the upper surface handle portion 9b and the bottom surface side handle portion 10b. Upper and lower surfaces of the planar member 5 are brought into contact with the handle portions 9b and 10b. The planar member 5 passes through the cutting tool main body portion 1 to reach both side surfaces of the cutting tool main body portion 1. The planar member 5 is made of a material having a Young's modulus of the cutting tool main body portion 1 or less and a damping rate of the cutting tool main body portion 1 or less.
