To obtain a cyclic aniline sulfide useful as a sensor, analytical reagent, raw material for metal-organic composite materials or metal scavenger, and to provide a method for producing the above compound.
This cyclic aniline sulfide is obtained by the following process: a cyclic phenol sulfide of the general formula (3) (wherein, Y is H, a hydrocarbon group, halohydrocarbon group, COR2, OR3, COOR4, CN, CONH2, NO2, NR5R6, halogen atom, SO4R7 or SO3R8, R2 to R8 are each H or a hydrocarbon group; R is a hydrocarbon group; plural X, Y and R may be the same with or different from each other; and n is an integer of 4-8) is reacted with a hydrocarbon group-substituted aminolithium to form an N-hydrocarbon group- substituted cyclic aniline sulfide of the general formula (2), which is then debenzylated to form the corresponding cyclic aniline sulfide, which, in turn, is reduced to convert the sulfonyl or sulfinyl group to sulfide group.
