Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound being a polymer electrolyte containing a sulfonio group as a functional group, having low viscosity, excellent heat resistance and chemical stability, useful as a monomer for an ionic conductor, an ion exchange resin and an engineering plastic.
SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (Ar an aromatic group which may contain a substituent group; R is an organic group; X- is an anion; (n) is an integer of ≥2 and shows a polymerization degree) such as cyclic hexakis(methylsulfonio-1,4-phenylene trifluoromethanesulfonate). The compound is obtained, for example, by making a cyclic oligo(thioarylene) compound of formula II into a sulfonio compound. Methyl trifluoro methanesulfonate is preferable as the sulfonio forming agent in terms of synthetic yield. Preferably the reaction is carried out at 0.01-2 M raw material concentration at 0-50°C for 1-100 hours.
