NEW MATERIAL:A cycloalkane derivative expressed by formula I [A is methylene, methylene substituted by R1 (R1 is H or -OR8) or carbonyl; R2, R6 and R8 are H or organic residue; R3, R4 and R5 are H or alkyl; R7 is alkyl; Z is ethynylene (-C≡C-), vinylene or ethylene; n is 0 or 1].
EXAMPLE: 4-(2,4-Dihydroxy-2,6,6-trimethylcyclohexyl)but-3-en-2-ol.
USE: A medicine, etc., having excellent antiulcer activity.
PREPARATION: For example, a compound expressed by formula II is reduced to provide a compound expressed by formula III, which is then oxidized to afford a compound expressed by formula IV. The hydroxyl group thereof is protected to give a compound expressed by formula V (R'8 is a protecting group), which is then alkylated to afford a compound expressed by formula VI. The carbon double bond is subsequently epoxidized to provide a compound expressed by formula VII, which is subjected to ring opening to afford a compound expressed by formula VIII. The keto group is then reduced to provide a compound expressed by formula I-a.
