Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a copolymer having excellent oil-resistance, solvent- resistance, transparency, rigidity and heat-resistance and useful as optical material, etc., by copolymerizing an α-olefin and a specific cycloolefin under specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: The copolymer is produced by supplying (A) one or more kinds of ≥2C α-olefin and (B) one or more kinds of cycloolefin of formula I ((n) and (r) are 0 or 1; (m) is 0 or positive integer; R1 to R18, Ra and Rb are H, halogen, hydrocarbon group, etc.) or formula II ((p) and (q) are 0 or ≥1; (m) and (n) are 0-2; R1 to R19 are H, halogen, aliphatic hydrocarbon group, etc.) to a polymerization liquid at a ratio to get a concentration molar ratio (B/A) of ≥5.0, introducing hydrogen gas into the polymerization liquid at a rate to get a concentration molar ratio of hydrogen/component A to ≤0.025 and copolymerizing the monomers in the presence of a soluble vanadium compound and an organic aluminum compound.
