Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a cycloolfin copolymer which is excellent in clarity, resistance to heat distortion, and hardness and is chemically inert and resistant to hydrolysis.
CONSTITUTION: This cycloolefin copolymer has a solution viscosity (η) of 0.25 dl/g or higher and comprises (A) polymerized units of at least one polycyclic olefin, (B) polymerized units of at least one olefin having at least one double bond, and optionally (C) polymerized units of at least one acyclic monoolefin. In the copolymer, the equivalent wt. with regard to olefinic double bonds is less than or equal to the number average mol.wt., and the copolymer additionally contains at least one repeating unit which possesses at least two electron withdrawing groups.
