Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a cylinder block made of a light alloy which is further reduced in weight and improves quietness.
CONSTITUTION: In a cylinder block made of a light alloy wherein a plurality of cylinders 2 are formed in a body 1 through a water jacket 3, the depth of a water jacket 3 from a gasket surface 1a is set to a value lower than 2/3 of length L extending from the gasket surface 1a to the bottom dead center of a piston cylinder 4. In the cylinder block made of a light alloy wherein a plurality of the cylinders are formed in a body, a water jacket 3 is formed only in the vicinity of an adjoining part between the adjoining cylinders.
