Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve thermal conductivity and combustion efficiency with light weight and high strength by casting in the cylinder liner made of an inter- metallic compound dispersion reinforced Al alloy by the molten metal of Al alloy for cylinder block and integrating both joining surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: The cylinder liner made of Mg2Si dispersion reinforced aluminum alloy is preheated to about 100-500°C in order to reduce a strain due to heat at casting. A preheated cylinder block is set in a cylinder block mold, pouring is executed to cast in a liner. Reaction occurs between the molten metal and liner and the line and block are joined. Therefore, this method takes advantage of a light weight, the high strength and high wear resistance of material and improves the thermal conductivity with integrating.
