Abstract:

To reconcile low fuel consumption and exhaust gas emission control in high order without largely increasing a manufacturing cost in a cylinder injection internal combustion engine.

This cylinder injection internal combustion engine comprises a first combustion process for successively repeating a first compression stroke (2), a first expansion stroke (3), a second compression stroke (4) and a second expansion stroke (5), performing exhaust and air intake in a prescribed period between the latter half of the second expansion stroke (5) and the first half of the first compression stroke (2) and burning fuel injected in the first compression stroke (2) over the first expansion stroke (3) from the first compression stroke (2) and a second combustion process for burning additional fuel over the second expansion stroke (5) from the second compression stroke (4) by injecting the additional fuel into burnt gas generated in the first combustion process.
