Abstract:
To provide a cylinder injection type internal combustion engine capable of stratified operation when traveling at a speed per hour of 120 km/h and/or in an engine speed of 3,200 rpm, for improving fuel economy and/or for clearing exhaust regulation.
A layer of air and/or an air flow is formed between a fuel spray sprayed from the injection value and a piston upper surface and/or a combustion chamber inner wall surface, and a devised surface shape for guiding this air flow is also formed on the piston upper surface. In starting (a cold start) in a cold district, the stratified operation can be performed even in cranking.
