Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce pumping loss and fuel consumption by preventing incomplete warming up condition of a part of cylinders when a cylinder number controlling internal combustion engine which can stop the operation of a part of cylinders returns to the all cylinder operation condition after cylinder stop operation is continued for many hours in the cylinder number controlling internal combustion engine.
CONSTITUTION: Engine valve operation and stop change-over means 401-404 which can change over the operation and stop of engine valves per cylinder independently are provided per cylinder. The operation of the valve operation and stop change-over means 401-404 is controlled by a control unit 75 so that the operation and stop of engine valves of all cylinders are repeated in accordance with the engine valve stop cycle set in advance when an engine is in the cylinder stop operation condition.
