To provide a cylindrical fiber reinforced implant to be inserted between two adjacent vertebrae.

The implant having an outer wall 2 with a general cylindrical or oval shape and preferably an open volume for bone filling. The wall 2 having reinforcing fibers which at least in part are oriented in a first direction. A support 6 extending within the volume having reinforcing fibers which are at least in part oriented in a second direction, and the first and said second directions are different. Preferably the fibers of the outer wall are at least partly concentrically oriented. The support is preferably a separately formed part, that is inserted into the outer wall.
