PURPOSE: To obtain a high-concentration and low-cost additive for dampening water by incorporating a specific compound and at least one compound selected out of a group of compounds composed of ethylene glycol, 1,2-propanediol, and others.
CONSTITUTION: A dampening water composition in use contains a compound selected out of a group A of compounds shown by a formula I and a compound selected out of a group B of compounds composed of ethylene glycol, 1,2- propanediol, 1,3-propanediol, trimethylol propane, and others. The latter com pound is contained in the amount of 10-150wt.% to the compound of the group A. In the formula I, (a+b+c+p+q+r) represents an integer of 1-10, and a, b, c, p, q, r are each an integer of 0-10. This manner eliminates toxicity, with regard to a work environmental contamination and a fire hazard, and the need for local exhaust facilities, improves dampening water characteristics, such as metering roll stains, bleed properties, emulsifying properties, and continuous stability, and minimizes a generation of bubble.
