Abstract:

To provide dampening water for lithographic printing exhibiting excellent sterilizing and bacterium preventive operations for a harmful microorganism of a wide range while holding original properties of the water such as desensitization, rustproofness or the like, capable of effectively suppressing an occurrence of a slime and circulating and recycling for a long period without environmental contamination or an adverse influence to a human body.

The dampening water for lithographic printing comprises (A) a methylene bisthiocyanate and (B) an aliphatic nitroalcohol represented by formula (wherein R1 and R2 are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, and X is a halogen atom) of a range of 10:1 to 1:5.
