PURPOSE: To effectively control large and small vibrations by a method wherein a guide in a circular arc shape is provided to a damper that absorbs vibrations occurring to a structure, and positioning for swing motion of the damper main body is made along the circular arc of the guide.
CONSTITUTION: A wall 5 is erected in a space encircled with columns 2 and 2 and beams 3 and 3 constituting a structure 1, and thereby a variable damper 22 is constructed. A guide rail 5g constituting the variable damper 22 is formed in a circular arc shape to a position off to the lower right of the wall 5. A servomotor 23 is provided on the beam 3 that faces the guide rail 5g, and one end of an oil damper 24 is fixed to the output shaft 23a of the servomotor. The other end of the oil damper is engaged with the guide rail 5g so that the angle α of the oil damper can be made variable in a range from 0° to 90°. Furthermore, a vibration sensor 20 for detecting the vibration of the structure 1 is provided, and a damping control device 21 is connected thereto. By operation of the vibration sensor 20, the angle α of the oil damper 24 can be made variable, in accordance with the magnitude of the vibration, within the range from 0° to 90°, and thereby the damping force of the oil damper can be optionally controlled.
