PURPOSE: To directly acquire data addressed to itself by detecting and storing the physical positions pf respective information processors connected to a system and transmitting the stored information to the optional information processor connected to the system.

CONSTITUTION: A facsimile receiver 105 is connected to a data communication network and performs facsimile transmission/reception through a telephone line 106 and the data communication network 101. Also, the receiver 105 is provided with a function for reading the physical positions of the other equipments connected to the communication network 101 and the function for inquiring of the other equipment connected to the communication network 101 about the user information of the owner. The receiver 105 uses the function of the communication network 101 and investigates an installation place where a terminal which returns signals is connected to the communication network 101. Thereafter, the facsimile receiver closest to the position where the terminal is connected is searched. When the searched receiver is present within an appropriate distance compared with the connection position of the terminal, the receiver is judged as an appropriate receiver.
