Abstract:
PURPOSE: To convert at high speed a format of a variable bit length data word into a format of a constant bit length data word.
CONSTITUTION: This data format converter consists of two stages. A 2nd format conversion stage 12 divides a word into complete constant length code words and returns remaining bits, if they exist, to a 1st format conversion stage 10. The 1st format conversion stage 10 connects the returned remaining bits to a succeeding variable bit length code word to update a corresponding bit length instruction code word. The data word subjected to preliminary processing is fed to the 2nd format conversion stage 12.
