PURPOSE: To provide a data processing system and method for handing exchangeable image objects for document having various sizes and forms.

CONSTITUTION: This system has a storage device 46 to store the images of the documents of a compressed A size and B size into an image file of a first type which is a mixed object document content system form (MO:DCA-P). The images of the documents of the C-E sizes are respectively segmented and compressed to component tile images and are stored into an image file of a second type. The direct displaying or printing of the tile images in the state of releasing the compression is possible. The second image file is a mixed object document content system form (MO:DCA-X) of a second type having the same overall form as that of the MO:DCA-P form. Previous notice images are concealed in an NoOP field and are usually used in the input/output device in a system capable of handling the C-E size documents.
