This data storage device is provided with a data storage means 17 having a first storage area 17b in which the reading of written data in a data format by an external device 30 is restricted, and a second storage area 17a in which software executing the reading of the data written in the first storage area 17b is stored, and a control means 15 executing the software stored in the second storage area 17a in response to a reading request from the external device 30 to read the data written in the first storage area 17b and transforming the read data into a signal matching an output format of the external device 30 connected to the data storage device 10 to transmit them to the external device 30.
