Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the device which prevents the occurrence of data overrun and constitutes an efficient processing system independent of system configuration and processing concentration.
CONSTITUTION: An arithmetic processing device 1 which transfers data between a main storage device 2 and an input/output device 9 based on transfer command information stored in the main storage device 2 is provided. A channel device 7 is provided with a buffer part 71 to eliminate the difference of the transfer rate between the main storage device 2 and the peripheral controller 8, and this channel device is provided with means 75 and 76, and the means 75 outputs a data transfer request to an input/output processing device 4 in accordance with the output of a buffer management means 73 which disscriminates effective data or the number of empty areas in the buffer in accordance with the transfer direction, and the means 76 outputs a data transfer request having a high priority level to the input/output processing device 4 when forecasting the occurrence of data overrun based on the data transfer rate between the peripheral controller 8 and the channel device 7 and the output of the buffer management means 73.
