PURPOSE: To accomplish the communication of character font data by providing a function for fetching document data which utilizes a character font generated by another data processor and transforming the character font to a character font in a system which can be processed by the present device.

CONSTITUTION: When a reception means 1 receives character code data from the 1st data processor and the character font data generated corresponding to the specified character code data by the 1st data processor, a code transform means 2 transforms the received character code data to the character code data for the 2nd data processor. Then a font transform means 3 transforms the character font data corresponding to the received specified character code data to the character font data which can be processed by the 2nd data processor, then a storage means 4 stores the transformed character code data and the character font data after they are allowed to correspond to each other. Thus, the communication of the character font data is accomplished.
