To provide a data transmission system and method where a transmission time is reduced, when an observation data editing device 20 transmits observation data to an observation data display device 40.
The data transmission system comprises the observation data editing device 20, that analyzes and compresses information from an observation device 10 for generating transmission data and the observation data display device 40 that decodes the received compression data and displays the result as observation data; and the observation data editing device 20 includes a data distribution analysis function 210, that analyzes the distribution characteristic of the observation data, a mask compression function 220 that compresses uniform data as position information, on the basis of the result of the analysis, a difference compression function 230 that compresses change data with difference information from adjacent data, a transmission data generating function 240 that generates the transmission data, a compression data expansion function 1000 that receives and decodes the compression data from the observation data editor 20 and an observation data display function 1100 that displays the decoded data. Thus, the data transmission system can realize reduction of the transmission time through the adoption of a highly efficient compression system for utilizing the data distribution characteristics.
