Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a daylight utilization system that can optimally block direct sunlight and admit reflected light without obstructing residents' viewing environment as seen from a lower window part.
SOLUTION: This daylight utilization system 47 is provided with a light shelf 29 mounted approximately horizontally on the outside of a building window portion 21 at approximately the mid-height position of the window portion 21 along the frontage of the window portion 21, for admitting sunlight reflected by its upper surface from the window part 21 to apply it to the ceiling face 33 of a room 31 as indirect illuminating light, and a blind 41 mounted on the indoor side of the window part 21 and having a plurality of spaced apart, vertically arranged slats 43 such that the slats 43 for an upper window part A above the light shelf 29 and the slats 43 for a lower window part B below the light shelf 29 can be independently raised and lowered and varied in angle.
