PURPOSE: To improve melting efficiency and prevent a furnace wall from being wasted by constructing a DC are furnace such that a scrap stock material is continuously introduced from a portion between upper two electrodes to the center of a furnace body and that arc from the upper electrodes is directed toward the scrap stock material.

CONSTITUTION: There are provided a furnace body 2 including a bottom electrode 1 at a lower portion thereof, a furnace cover 3 for closing the upper portion of the furnace body 2, a stock material introduction port 25 formed substantially at the center of the furnace cover 3, and upper two electrodes 26, 27 where the furnace cover 3 is vertically disposed to penetrate themselves at a location where the stock material introduction port 25 is held laterally.
