To provide a decorative article with a decorative part painted to enhance ornamental design effect using light, and a decorative article manufacturing method.SOLUTION: A decorative article 1 comprises: a transparent substrate 2 having translucency, arranged on a rear surface side; a background painted part 3a painted on a front surface side of the transparent substrate 2; a light guiding layer 4 having translucency, and formed on a front surface side of the background painted part 3a; and a front surface layer 5 having a lacquer-work part 5b, and formed on a front surface side of the light guiding layer 4. The light guiding layer 4 comprises: a light guiding part 4x which has translucency leading a light irradiated from a light source through the transparent substrate, to the front side surface, and which is arranged at a position opposing the transparent substrate 2. The front surface layer 5 comprises: a discharge part 5x discharging a light passing through the light guiding layer 4 from the light guiding part 4x to the front surface side. The lacquer-work part 5b is formed at a position overlapping a part of the light guiding part 4x in a front-and-rear direction, and formed in the vicinity of a boundary 10 between the background painted part 3a and the light guiding part 4x in the front-and-rear direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
