To save energy by moving the waste heat of an ammonia refrigerant circuit to a carbon dioxide refrigerant circuit side and recovering the waste heat of the ammonia refrigerant circuit which has conventionally been disposed in the atmosphere to use the waste heat for defrosting.
This defrosting device for a carbon dioxide circulation cooling system for performing heat exchange between a carbon dioxide refrigerant and an ammonia refrigerant by a cascade condenser 12 to convert the carbon dioxide refrigerant to a refrigerant liquid and vaporize the ammonia refrigerant includes: a hot gas heat exchanger 16 for vaporizing the carbon dioxide refrigerant to convert it to hot gas by heat generated in the ammonia refrigerant in the ammonia refrigerant circuit 14 discharged from the cascade condenser 12; and a defrosting circuit 15 for performing defrosting by sending the carbon dioxide refrigerant into the hot gas heat exchanger 16 and supplying hot gas generated in the hot gas heat exchanger 16 into a load-side cooler 11.
