To obtain the subject mulch film having improved shapability and practicality, having a proper strength capable of being plowed in after used for a prescribed period and having the same or larger biodegradability as or than those of conventional films in soil by subjecting a specific component to a radiation irradiation treatment to improve heat resistance.
This mulch film for agriculture is produced by shaping a lactone resin alone or a composition comprising the lactone resin and one or more other biodegradable resins. The lactone resin as the component of the mulch film for agriculture singly or together with at least one other component is subjected to a radiation irradiation treatment. Therein, the other biodegradable resin is preferably a synthetic polymer such as an aliphatic polyester and/or a natural polymer such as starch. A lactone resin/synthetic polyester resin weight ratio is preferably 5/95 to 70/30.
