Title:
DEHALOGENATION OF HALOGEN-SUBSTITUTED ARYLALKYLAMINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3930922
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dehalogenate an arylalkylamine enantiomer while keeping the optical activity on the C atom having amino group.
SOLUTION: An enantiomer having one optical center on the C atom labeled with * and expressed by formula I ((m) is 1, 2 or 3; (n) is 0-4; R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-10C alkyl, an aryl or together with *C form a 3-8 membered ring; R3 and R4 are each H, a 1-10C alkyl, an aryl or together with N form a 3-8 membered ring or together with R1 or R2 form a 3-8 membered ring; X is Cl, Br or I) is made to react with a hydrogenating agent (e.g. sodium formate) in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst containing a transition metal (e.g. Raney nickel) to obtain an enantiomer of formula II retaining the optical center *. the dehalogenation is carried out at 0-250°C using 1-25wt.% of the catalyst based on the substrate to be dehalogenated.
