Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a dehydrated liposome preparation capable of being stored for a long period without leading an inner capsulated ingredient from the liposome and capable of being rehydrated on its use.
CONSTITUTION: This method for dehydrating a liposome comprises a process for preparing the liposome containing one or more protected sugars and subsequently a process for removing water from the preparation. Therein, the characteristics comprising that the sugars are contained at protecting concentrations on both the inner and outer surfaces of the liposome membrane, respectively, that the liposome has one or more kinds of charged concentration gradients over the membrane, and that the concentration gradients can generate a penetrated membrane potential for charging an ionizable biologically active agent into the liposome.
