To regenerate a water absorbent which absorbed water efficiently in a short time on a dehydrating apparatus using the water absorbent.
This dehydrating apparatus 10 conveys the sludge 36 supplied on an endless track belt 32 from a supplying part 38a to a discharging part 14 by driving the endless track belt 32 and dehydrates the sludge 36 while the sludge 36 is being conveyed from the supplying part 38a to the discharging part 14. The dehydrating apparatus 10 is provided in the endless track belt 32 with the water absorbent 24 causing syneresis by pressurization. A pressing means 40, 26, 28, 30 for pressing the water absorbent 24 disposed inside the endless track belt 32 is provided on the track running from the discharging part 14 to the supplying part 38a of the endless track belt 32.
