PURPOSE: An inexpensive, safe and stable dental caries preventive composition, containing humic acid and/or a salt thereof as an active ingredient, having powerful inhibitory action on formation of water-insoluble glucan and capable of being blended with confectionery, dentifrice, gargle, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A dental caries preventive composition, containing humic acid, also called FUSHOKU SAN, present in coal of low degree of coalification, soil, black sugar, etc., capable of acting on microbial cell production of glucosyltransferase or release thereof to the outside of microbial cells though without antimicrobial action on Streptococcus mutans and resulting in action of inhibiting biosynthesis of water-insoluble glucan and preventing the dental caries and useful for blending with seasoning, confectionery, e.g. chewing gums, candies, chocolates, etc., dentifrice, gargle, etc.
