Abstract:
PURPOSE: To efficiently prepare an anti-mutagen by searching and identifying a substance showing anti-mutagenicity from a fruit body of Agaricus blazei (Agaricus mushroom).
CONSTITUTION: An anti-mutagen contains a liberated unsaturated fatty acid obtained from an extract of Agaricus blazei with hexane. The anti-mutagen contains a hydroxy acid obtained from an extract of a fruit body of Agaricus blandi with a chloroform-methanol mixed solvent. The anti-mutagen consists essentially of 13-hydroxy cis-9, trans-11 octadecadienoic acid. A dried material of Agaricus mushroom is preserved for a long period of time and extracted with hexane to give a liberated unsaturated fatty acid. Agaricus mushroom immediately after harvesting is extracted with the chloroform methanol mixed solvent to give a hydroxy acid.
