Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a depolymerized natural rubber which exhibits neither the door nor coloration characteristic of natural rubber, does not cause immediate allergy due to protein, and has physical characteristics equal to those of a usual vulcanized rubber.
CONSTITUTION: A liq. depolymerized natural rubber of the invention has a number average mol.wt. of 2,000-50,000 and is obtd. by depolymerizing a deproteinized natural rubber, more specifically by oxidizing a 1-30wt.% soln. of a deproteinized natural rubber in an org. solvent with air in the presence of a metal catalyst.
