To obtain a derivative of a substituted 2,4-thiazolidione free from effect on insulin serection, having an action on insulin resistance, free from hepatotoxic action, having activity against diabetic not accompanying hyperinsulinism and useful for an antidiabetic drug.
This compound is expressed by formula I (A is a 2-16C alkylene; D is a mono to tri-cyclic aromatic structure; X is H, a 1-6C alkyl or the like; (n) is 1-3), preferably, 5-[3-(4-fluorophenoxy)propyl]-2,4-thiazolidione, or the like. The compound of formula I is produced preferably by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (Hal is a halogen, or the like) in the presence of a basic agent, then the produced compound IV is reacted with a compound of formula V (R1 and R2 are each an alkyl) in the presence of an alkali metal alcoholate, halogenating the reaction produce, reacting the halogenated compound with thiourea by heating under relux in an acidic mixture, and hydrolyzing the obtained product in an acidic medium.
