Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain new derivs. of (hetero) arom. ethers and thioethers having superior anti-hyperlipidemic activity, causing no macroscopic adverse drug reaction, no auxesis or drug toxicity in hepar and useful as lipid reduction medicines.
CONSTITUTION: The derivs. of (hetero) arom. ethers and thioethers are compds. of formula I [(HET)Ar is an optionally substd. mono-, bi- or tricyclic aryl or heteroaryl nucleus; X is -O- or -S-; Y is-CO-, 0-8C polymethylene, -CH(OR1) (R1 is H or acyl), etc.; and R is phenyl substd. at para position with carboxyl, etc.], e.g. 2-[3-[(p-isobutyloxycarbonyl)-phenoxy]-2-oxo-propylthio]-benzoxazole. The compds. of the formula I are obtd. by reacting compds. of formula II [where Y is 0-8C alkyl, protected -CO- or protected -CH(OH)-] with the corresponding halogen (hetero) arom. derivs. and then removing the protective groups.
