To provide a desalination apparatus capable of eliminating the suspension layer of a reverse osmosis membrane without stopping the operation of desalination and continuing the desalination, and a method of washing the desalination apparatus.
The desalination apparatus includes: a pretreatment apparatus 13 provided with a pretreatment membrane 12 for filtering a suspended matter portion in raw water 11; a reverse osmosis membrane apparatus 17 provided with the reverse osmosis membrane 16 for removing a salt content from filtered water 14 from the pretreatment apparatus 13 and producing permeated water 15; a first control valve 31 for temporarily lowering the supply pressure of the filtered water between a high pressure pump 21 interposed in a filtered water line 23 for supplying the filtered water 14 from the pretreatment apparatus 13 to the reverse osmosis membrane apparatus 17 and the reverse osmosis membrane apparatus 17; and a controller 30 for operating the first control valve 31 and performing suck-back control of executing the operation of lowering the pressure of the entrance of the reverse osmosis membrane apparatus 17 in terms of pulses during the operation.
