PURPOSE: To provide a paper thickness control device for a paper machine suitable for producing paper board, capable of controlling paper thickness even for a simple instrumentation type paper machine which can not control paper thickness by using a calendar.
CONSTITUTION: A papermaking process having a wet part 1 for discharging white water, a press part 2 for drying a substratum, a main dryer 3 for drying the substratum, a reel part 8 for winding the dried substratum and a stock control valve 9 for regulating the total amount of fed pulp is equipped with a weight meter before a reel/a moisture meter/a thickness gauge 7, a weight control part 14 for calculating an absolute dry weight BD2 before the reel from the measured value, comparing the calculated value with a set absolute dry weight BD0 and controlling the divergence of the stock control value so as to lessen the deviation of both the values, and a paper thickness correcting part 16 for comparing a measured value CLP1 of paper thickness with a set value CLP0 of paper thickness and sending a correction signal to the weight control part so as to lessen the deviation.
