Abstract:
A heating mantle for heating materials, such as metals, alloys or inorganic chemicals in a retort (42), includes a tubular wall (16) and annular chambers (22) cooperating with said (16) wall for forming a tortious path around the retort (42) for hot gases. The mantle provides a very high convective heat transfer coefficient.
