Abstract:
It has been found that a titanium aluminide modified with chromium and tantalum having the composition Al46-52Cr1-4Ta4-8 has a remarkable and unique antioxidation capability. Because of this unique antioxidation property, this aluminide can be used as a protective coating on other aluminides as well as on the surfaces of other bodies needing atmospheric protection.
