Abstract:
PURPOSE:To extract the characteristic quantity of the form possessed by a target at once and detect the position and angle of the target by providing a detecting means for expanding the edge part extracted by an edge extracting means followed by contracting, and detecting an uneven part contained in the edge part. CONSTITUTION:A target is photoelectrically read by cameras 102, 103, from its image information, an edge part is extracted by an edge extracting means 203, and the extracted edge part is expanded and contracted to detect an uneven part contained in the edge part. The edge of the detected uneven part is extracted, the extracted edge is reversed, and the characteristic quantity showing the size and positional relation of the closed image area obtained by this reversion is calculated. The preliminarily stored characteristic quantity when the target is put in a determined position is compared with the calculated characteristic quantity, and according to the comparison result, the position and/or angle of the target is detected.
