PURPOSE: To provide an ultrasonic probe imaging apparatus which facilitates a gain adjustment when the level of an ultrasonic echo receiving signal is made to corresponding to a range of a display data of a probe image by regulating the gain in a sampling of the ultrasonic echo receiving signal.
CONSTITUTION: In an ultrasonic probe imaging apparatus adapted to display probe images in color by ultrasonic measurement, a color pallet 9b is provided and receives a display data (x) of the prospecting images to be converted into color data R, G and B according to specified conversion functions R(x), G(x) and B(x). The specified conversion function R(x), G(x) and B(x) varies discontinuouslly as the function forms reach the upper limit '255' or the like of the display data (x). Thus, before the level of an ultrasonic echo receiving signal becomes suitable for visualization, this condition is shown conspicuously as changes in color in the probe images.
